Yup, team blog hop time again! This month we decided on creating items that could hold a gift or a gift card. Bonus points, if you were to use items from the Last Chance Products list.
I found this template for a clever gift card holder on Pinterest and knew I had to give it a try! It's adorable, and a fun surprise all at the same time. Thanks to Buckeye Inklings for the inspiration. She called it a Gift Card Pull Strip.
I went with a Pool Party base and the Sweet Stockings DSP. My accent colours were Evening Evergreen and Cherry Cobbler. I have TOO much of the last chance DSP and ribbon hanging around so all of my mid December creations are heavy on the DSP, lol!
The cardstock is cut 4 1/4" x 9" and scored at 5 1/2". The top strip of DSP is 1 1/2" x 4" and the bottom is 3 7/8" x 3 5/8" The mat for the bottom layer is 4" x 3 3/4".
You can seal the bottom layer if you like or just tie it closed with ribbon (like I did). If you use adhesive, use only on the sides.
The strip that holds the gift card is simple to make and I've broken it down with many photos to help. You will need a strip of Basic White that is 1 1/2" x 4 1/2" and some other card stock that is 1 3/4" x 4 1/4".
You can see how the coloured cardstock sticks out beyond the white but it will not go quite to the top. Although it definitely could, these dimensions create a snug pocket for the gift card.
Here are a couple of shots showing you where to place your adhesive (I used tear & tape) and your Stampin' Dimensionals to hold the greeting. I used the Layering Circles Dies and Encircled in Warmth stamp set for mine but you could use anything really.
I love the end result! If you do too, give it a try! You'll find it's really quite quick to put together and I'm sure your recipients will love it.
Drop a comment, I'd love to know what you think.
