Sketch Challenge with Rooted In Nature (Global Design Project #286)

I was inspired to create some designs using a few of my favourite retiring items.  Then I saw this week's Global Design Project sketch challenge and the two just fit together perfectly!

Rooted in Nature is such a great bundle of products for so many occasions and cards for both genders.  I'll be sad to part with it..... but maybe it will end up on my retired shelf... that remains to be decided.

I stuck to the sketch pretty closely and kept the rest of my design simple and clean. My card base is Merry Merlot and all stamping is done on Very Vanilla cardstock.

I started with my blending brushes and the circle (my template is using the 2nd largest layering circle die and a piece of the cardboard that comes with our Stampin' Up!'s DSP). I kept to three colours: Merry Merlot, Mango Melody and Crushed Curry. I then embossed using the Subtles embossing folder (I will be keeping this in my stash for sure!)

I stamped the tree image in Mossy Meadow and use the corresponding die to cut out.  The greeting is stamped in Merry Merlot and embossed with clear embossing powder. I then fussy cut into 3 separate pieces.

Everything is adhered using Stampin' Seal.  I tried dimensionals for the tree and greeting but didn't love the added dimension for this design.

If you look closely, you can see where my template wasn't big enough and I went outside it slightly at the right edge. I actually like the little line of colour it adds to the edge of the card and decided to leave it.
