Kylie's Demonstrator Training Monthly Blog Hop (April 2020) - Watercoloured Poppies

I have been saving this card and accompanying post especially for this month blog hop and I'm so excited to finally share it!! I LOVE how this card turned out and you won't believe how easy it was to create!

It all started after a saw a card by the amazing Crafty Little Peach using a similar effect for the poppies.  I knew I wanted to try to get a similar look.  I'm not sure what her technique was but I used Watercolour Pencils, an AquaPainter and Watercolour Paper.

To create these poppies, I traced the outer edge of the dies on the watercolour paper. I coloured in the shapes with my watercolour pencils and then used my Aquapainter to go from light to dark. After the page had dried, I used the Poppy Moments Dies to cut them out.

The top layer is cut from Shimmery White Paper. The centres are done with Flirty Flamingo, Petal Pink & Coastal Cabana cardstock.

The remainder of the card was pretty quick to come together as I ended up following a sketch challenge. I knew I wanted to keep it really clean though so the challenge just helped me to narrow down a few ideas I was already deciding between.

I used the Coastal Weave Embossing Folder on a strip of Blushing Bride cardstock to break up the white background and I pulled out my underutilized Well Written Dies and a bit more Coastal Cabana cardstock.

Another thing I love about this card is the slight curl in the flowers as a result of the paper drying. I chose to accent that by only putting adhesive on the flattest parts of them before adhering to the card front.
