So I was actually too late to submit my card for this colour challenge from The Spot but I'd been thinking about my design all week so I went ahead and created it anyway!
I'm not sure I would have ever paired up Pumpkin Pie with these other two jewel tones and I know I would have never added it to a Christmas Card!
Special shout-out to my stamping bestie Dragonfly Papercrafts for suggesting I ground the jewel tones with some black. I was very skeptical but LOVE how it turned out!
To create the ornaments, I first stamped with Versamark on watercolour paper and then embossed with Gold Powder. The use of the embossing powder allows for too things - a nice bit of contrast and the ability to watercolour within the stamped image without covering detail. Instead of reinkers or the water painters (aquapainter) and ink from the ink pad, I used my Stampin' Write markers. Because they are water based, you can colour with them on the water colour paper and then use the water painter to drag the colour across the image. I then punched the out with the coordinating punches. (Christmas Gleaming Bundle)
I used the Stitched Rectangles Die to add a layer of the Gold Metallic Cardstock behind the ornaments to tie in with the Gold Embossing Powder.
Finishing touches: the Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder, Gilded Gems and the Pretty Peacock reversible ribbon. It took me longer than I would have liked to come up with all the elements of this design but now that I have, this will be a quick design to recreate in multiples.
