Twice a month on the bigger team I am part of, we are encouraged to get our creative juices flowing by participating in a challenge. The most recent challenge was a tic tac toe challenge: choose 3 elements found in a line and create a project. Here is the card I created.
And here is the tic tac toe board with the ideas. Seems easy enough but when you don't own any Halloween sets and very few autumn sets, things get interesting very quickly! So you can see I chose orange, cat and patterned paper. And if you look closely, you'll notice I also snuck in sequins and black.
I actually love this card (it makes me smile), and fully admit it is a card I never would have made if not for this challenge.
I started with the cat (which I had to fussy cut from patterned paper, so score 2 boxes there) and then drawing out the orange in the fur. To do this I just began layering die cut shapes. I don't think I've ever done this quite like this before but I love how it frames a single image and creates an eye-catching card front. I chose three shapes from the Tasteful Labels dies as well as a Stitched Circle die. I used a combination of regular cardstock, patterned paper and glimmer paper. I love how these elements just work together.
Next was selecting a greeting that made sense with the cat. I sent with this fabulous greeting from the A Grand Kid stamp set. Although I stamped it as two parts, it is a single stamp. Last but not least, was the bling! I used the Sequins for Everything in the orange colour family. These sequins come in 3 different shapes in each colour family and each colour family has 3 shades. I used all the shades and all the shapes and even got as fancy as layering them!
Hope this card makes you smile as much as it does me. Don't be afraid to flex your creative muscle, you never know what amazing creation might result!
