I love me a good sketch challenge! And this one was no different. I find that once I make one card for the challenge, I continue to make more and more using the same sketch but different products.
I knew I wanted to take some creative liberties with the circle concept which is how my design process started. Out came my Rooted In Nature Bundle and the beautiful image of the tree stump. I intially stamped this in Espresso on Terracotta Tile cardstock (I had wanted to bring in a splash of colour) but I really didn't like how that looked. Next idea.... copper embossing! So I stamped the stamp with Early Espresso Ink on Early Espresso cardstock and then heat embossed using Copper powder. I then fussy cut this image for my first 'circle'.
Next, I stamped and die cut the large tree image for my second 'circle'. I stamped the image on Crumb Cake cardstock after colouring it in with my Stampin' Write Markers in Early Espresso, Mossy Meadow & Old Olive. I've included a short video below to show you how I did this technique.
For the rectangle, I used a piece of DSP from the Tropical Oasis suite. I cut the piece 2.5 x 4.25" and then embossed it using the Coastal Weave 3D embossing folder. I had seen this piece embossed like this by someone else and loved the effect.
I again took some creative liberty with the sentiment and only bannered the one end. I tried both ends but didn't like how it looked layered with my imagery. The sentiment is from the Genuine Gems stamp set and I used Mossy Meadow ink on Crumb Cake cardstock. This is then layered with Early Espresso and Copper Foil.
Last but not least, a bit of embellishment. I chose the Braided Linen Trim ribbon and the metallic gold pearls. After tying my bow, I unraveled the braiding in the ribbon for a less polished look. And of course, the entire card is on a Crumb Cake cardstock.
In our current time of worldwide crisis, I thought this sentiment and calming colour palette was just right for this design.
