I love me a good creative challenge and TGIF challenges are one of my favourites! I just wish I had the time to participate each week. Thankfully I had some time to play around with this week's sketch challenge. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. I hope the recipient will be as well!
All items used are from either the Stampin' Up!® Annual or Mini Catalolgue.
As you can see from the sketch, I kept it pretty close to the original. I really only took liberties with the shape of the primary focal piece.
My jumping off point for this card was this new Country Club Designer Series Paper and the plan for a masculine themed card. Once I decided on that, I had to decide which colours to draw out of the DSP as there were so many to choose from. I went with a Seaside Spray focal layer, framed by Night of Navy cardstock and mounted on a Whisper White card base.
I also had to pick a complimentary DSP to use as my single strip across the card front. As you can see, I kept the argyle pattern as a consistent theme in all of the DSP I used. I was also able to use it as a subtle background on my primary cardstock layer by embossing that layer with the Tufted Embossing folder. Stampin' Up!® does have a new Absolutely Argyle folder but I opted for the less detailed look of the Tufted Embossing folder instead.
Lastly I needed a central shape that would be large enough for the focal point but was also gender neutral. I went with these shapes from the Broadway Lights Dies out of the Annual Catalogue, using Whisper White and Mint Macaron cardstock. I stamped Happy Birthday in Night of Navy by combining the two words from two different stamp sets (For The Win & Friend Like You).
This is a great card for anyone to reproduce using whatever paper and dies you have on hand! Happy Stamping!

Love how you textured the background and used the sketch to create a masculine card. The papers and that marquee work well together. Great card!!!
