Coast to Coast Creators Blog Hop - Merry Christmas!

Fourteenth of the month, so it means it is team blog hop time again! And as always, you can find us both on our blogs and Instagram so be sure to visit both!

This month's challenge - anything Christmas from either the annual catty or the July - December mini. I chose to feature the Joyful Flurry Bundle from the mini.

I originally made the card on the right with the snowflakes stamped in Staz On, but using Orchid Oasis and Starry Sky as my blending inks turned out to be a little bit too much even for the richness of the Staz On black.  So I immediately recreated the card stamping the snowflakes in Versamark and heat embossing in white. The result was definitely worth it!

The basic layout and idea of the blending came from a class I did with Emma Goddard (Coastal Crafter). Her design was so beautiful that I knew I had to try the concept again using a different bundle so I could show it off on my social media pages. The Joyful Flurry Bundle is a perfect one for this idea.

The blended background was created by blending first using Orchid Oasis. I layered the ink multiple times on the bottom of the card and then created a gradient of colour getting lighter as I moved up the card.  I then added some Starry Sky to the very bottom and slightly up the outer edges for an even richer tone. These two colours are quite close but in two shades that are a bit further apart, it is even more striking.

This card was a perfect design to use up some of the amazing in-colour 6x6 glimmer paper. I used those must have Stylish Shapes Dies to cut the largest circle in glimmer and then the 2nd largest in Basic White which I then used to die cut with one of the largest partial dies in the Joyful Flurry Bundle. Layered it all up and added a couple of the smaller snowflakes stamped with Orchid Oasis and the sentiment stamped in Starry Sky.

Threw in some in-colour ribbon, some white frayed ribbon and some adhesive backed sequins

Give this idea a try, I guarantee you won't be disappointed with the end result!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog. Be sure to 'hop' to as many of the others as you can!

  2. I love the white too - so beautiful. The black is pretty too but the white is lovely.
