Kylie's Demonstrator Training Monthly Blog Hop (May 2020) - Tropical Oasis

A new month, a new blog hop.  I love how inspired I get to write these posts and then check out everyone else's!

I kept this month's design simpler but I love how it turned out! Apologies for two cards in this picture but I didn't get a solo shot of the featured design before it was delivered to my customer.

The request was to use the 'I miss your face' sentiment that was featured in the Tags in Bloom stamp set from the most recent Stampin' Up!® Sale-a-bration offerings.

I paired it up with the coordinating Label Me Lovely punch and the Amazing Tropical Oasis DSP. I've been holding out on buying the Tropical Oasis Bundle but might have to now as it is carrying over into the new catalogue offerings.

This is one of my go-to layouts for a quick but eye catching card to showcase DSP.  Your primary designer is cut at 4x5.25" to cover the majority of your card base and the second is a band across the card which can be as thick as you like it.  I usually go with either 1.75 or 2" for the DSP band which I then layer with a piece of plain cardstock to allow for a 1/8" border on either side of the band.

As I don't own the stamp set or dies that coordinate with the paper, I had to get creative.  Out came the Shimmer Detailed Laser Cut Specialty Paper (also retiring).  I used the shimmering white side and backed it with cardstock making it look like a layered die cut. I worked with So Saffron and various shades of green cardstock. Give it a try if you own this specialty paper.

I pulled out the Grapefruit Grove colour for the cardstock to stamp and punch the sentiment and used Terracotta Tile ink.  These two colours are beautiful together. I am super sad that Grapefruit Grove will be gone from our colour families at the end of the month. To continue with the shimmer from the laser cut flower, I traced over the words with Wink of Stella.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog. Be sure to 'hop' to as many of the others as you can!

You will be so inspired by all the amazing designs!
