Black & White Team Challenge

Are you noticing a theme to my blog posts yet?  They are often inspired by creative challenges!  Not to disappoint, here is another one.  This challenge was for a card using only a colour palette of black and white.

This design started with the idea to use one of the silhouette images from the Silhouette Scenes stamp set (annual catalogue). As I already had an extra tree die cut (Sweet Silhouettes Dies) from a previous design, conveniently in black, I settled on the girl on the swing. I stamped her in Memento Ink on Whisper White cardstock and then fussy cut her out (yes, I cut her out by hand including those swing strings). Once she was added to the card front, I also coloured her with Wink Of Stella.  Alternatively, I could have heat embossed with the Shimmer Black Stampin' Emboss Powder. I had originally planned to use the Brick & Mortar Embossing folder but once I went with the tree and swing, I knew the Woodland Embossing folder would be a much better fit. I used this on a piece of Whisper White cardstock cut at 4 x 5.25". This was mounted on a Basic Black cardfront.

Remember these butterflies? They were all the rave from last year's occasions catalogue (Butterfly Gala) and thankfully the carried over to our current annual catalogue. I chose three of the small images, stamped them in Memento, punched them using the coordinating punch and added some Wink of Stella.  I also added two sequins to each - one clear and one black (peaceful poppies sequins).

Last but not least is our sentiment also from the Silhouette Scenes set.  I stamped this in Craft Ink and heat embossed with White Stampin' Emboss powder on a scrap of Basic Black card stock.  I angle cut one end, added a few more of those clear sequins and voila! Aside from fussy cutting the girl on the swing, this card actually comes together quite quickly so why not give it a try?!
