When I don't know where to start with a new product from Stampin' Up!, I often CASE one of the samples from the catalogue to jump start my inspiration.
The candy cane card is pretty close to a sample in the catty (pg. 32). When I recreated the card on my live, I played around with a different DSP and the addition of the amazing ribbon from the suite!
