The West Coast Creators Team is back at it this month with a blog hop focused on all things from the NEW August - December Mini Catalogue! I chose not to use a holiday set as I am anticipating we will have a festive blog in the near future.
I am a daily drinker of coffee, like every day, no exception. No morning is complete without it, in my opinion. So the new Press On stamp set was on my list for sure. Plus it has fun greetings for many occasions.
This card started out with my wanting to also use the Basket Weave & Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack which is where the mint and cinnamon colour theme came from. The ribbons are nowhere to be found on the final design but that's creativity for you!
So let's talk technique as I've got a few different things at play in this design.
After the Cinnamon Cider cardbase, all the elements are layered atop a piece of Shimmery White cardstock. I created
a watercolour wash on this using Petal Pink and a cool new method I learned from Emma Goddard (Coastal Crafter). To create this wash, use either your ink pad, or drops of reinker, on your silicone mat. You then spritz this with water and then place your cardstock down on top of that. Press down lightly, remove & voila!Next up was creating a strip of my own unique DSP. I did this
by stamping the row of coffee cups twice. It fits perfectly! I did this by eye but it would be a great time to pull out your Stamparatus. I then took my Stampin' Write Markers in Petal Pink and Mint Macaron and added a few pops of colour on the cups. The single large cup is stamped in Early Espresso and fussy cut. I mounted this on a Stitched Shapes oval in Petal Pink. I then stamped a portion of the greeting (in Cinnamon) onto a scrap of Mint and trimmed it in the shape of a coffee sleeve. The additional words '& Coffee' were stamped using the '&' from the Forever Fern and 'Coffee' from Nothing's Better Than sets.
The 'lots of coffee' at the bottom is the other half of the
'confidence' greeting with a few coffee beans stamped alongside it. And because no card is complete without a little bling, a trio of Champagne Rhinestones. Thanks for hopping by and be sure to visit all the others and show them some love!
I was reading to find where you found your inspiration for your colour combination! HAHAH! Love it! It's funny how we start with something that never makes it on our card! :D Love your card!

DeleteThis card is fantastic, Gillian! I love your combination of colours, techniques, and products! And it's nice to see that other people start out in one direction for a card, and change their way, as well. Great creative process, and the results are terrific!!
ReplyDeletewell thanks!
DeleteGood to see that I’m not the only one who changes direction partway through a card! Love the background splash....if you used a darker colour, it could act as cool looking coffee spill!
ReplyDeletetotally! do a cinnamon cider or crumb cake splash! I'll have to try as the card was quick enough to make!
