Fourteen of the month so you know what that means! It's team blog and Insta hop day! This month we are sharing holiday projects created without the use of red, green, silver or gold.
I had a few ideas for this hop and then it became the day before the hop was due so I went with something a bit easier which was to focus on our amazing DSP! I sure hope Lost Lagoon and Pretty Peacock are not considered green! I view them more in the blue family so hoping everyone else does as well!
The Sentimental Christmas DSP has this stunning pattern, among others so this card almost made itself! I made it into a fun fold just to up the ante a bit. (Don't forget $4 from every pack of this DSP sold goes to Children's literacy organizations.)
I started with a Lost Lagoon card base of 4 1/4" x 11" which I then scored at both 2 3/4" and 5 1/2". I then cut a piece of the DSP that was 4" x 5", cut it into two pieces each 2 1/2" wide and adhered these to the two panels that fold on the left. The third piece of DSP is 4" x 3" and rounds out the feel of the card when it is folded flat.
Next I layered Lost Lagoon and Pretty Peacock pieces that were cut with the Radiating Stitches Dies. These are adhered together and then added to the card front with Dimensionals on the left hand side only. For the Basic White layer, I used the Everyday Details Dies and stamped the greeting in Pretty Peacock from the Christmas Labels stamp set.
The final bit of flourish was another die cut of the same DSP using the Spotlight on Nature dies as well as the Cream 1/4" ribbon which I coloured with my dark Pretty Peacock Stampin' Blends Marker.
I made a second card as well which is much simpler but I'll share as well. It includes more of the coloured ribbon, a die cut and greeting from the Christmas Labels Bundle as well as some embellished snowflakes from the Adhesive-Backed Snowflake Assortment.
For two cards that I whipped up within an hour, I'm pretty happy with the end result. I'l likely make a couple of more of the same!
I can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with. Be sure to hop around and check them all out!
Drop a comment, I'd love to know what you think.
