Crafty Collaborations Butterfly Bouquet Blog Hop

Oh my lord, this new Butterfly Brilliance Collection is to die for! There is not one single element that I like more or less than the rest.  They are all amazing!

I did not use the stamps in this particular design but instead focused on both the DSP and specialty paper, as well as the dies.  I then combined them with the Pretty Perennials stamp set for the greeting. For the card base I chose to use So Saffron card stock to which I added a layer of the Natural Touch specialty paper.

There is one specific pattern of the DSP that lines up perfectly with the dies to cut out 6 amazingly detailed and perfectly coloured butterflies all at one and instantly ready to add to any design. I chose to step these diecuts up a notch by die cutting the coordinating intricate die for each butterfly using the Rainbow Glimmer paper (in the coordinating colour of course).

I used the adhesive sheets for ease with this intricate diecuts but only applied pressure in the middle of each to add dimension to the design. My other trick to add dimensions with these butterflies is to use my bone folder to curl the outer edges of the wings.  I also add a crease along the body of the butterfly so that I have a flat section to apply adhesive to.

I die cut the stitched circle from another pattern of the DSP, using the 'B' side which has a lovely watercolour wash type pattern in saffron and coral. The fussy cut 'happy' was sitting on my desk and Rococo Rose which I thought blended nicely with the other colours. I stamped 'for you' using Blushing Bride ink (another colour in the DSP).

The final touch was to add a bit of bling. I chose the petal pink gems from the Elegant Faceted gems. The colour blends really nicely with the background of the card to add a subtle effect versus really standing out. I'm really happy with the final result!
