Hey Chicks Showcase (Blog Hop)

In case you haven't heard, Stampin' Up! has two great new bundles available now. They took the super cute Hey Birthday Chick stamp set from the Jan - June mini catty and added coordinating dies!! And to make it even better, they brought back the 2017 Saleabration stamp set Hey Chick (their most popular ever) and added dies for that as well! I'm showcasing the Hey Birthday Chick bundle today.

So called "cute" sets are generally not my thing but I've had my eyes on this set once we saw the PDF of the new catty. And then I was so disappointed we couldn't order it right away.  But, I forgive you Stampin' Up! as the coordinating dies really take it to the next level!

I've combined quite a few of the elements here, both stamps and dies. This card just sort of came together after I decided to stamp and die cut all of the elements in the set to see what they looked like.  I then set to colouring with my Stampin' Blends and started to layer items together utnil I had a pleasing end result.

The inspiration for the background papers was from my stamping friend Leah Dixon. I used two different colours of the Oh So Ombre DSP (free until the end of Feb with a $60 order). I love how you instantly have the perfect colours and shadings for grass and sky.

I had a lot of fun colouring these characters. I used Dark and Light Cinnamon Cider as well as the colour lifter for the primary hen. For the chicks, I stuck to Dark Petal Pink and Light Daffodil Delight. I also added a bit of the daffodil to the egg shells and then used the colour lifter to blend it out.

The balloon is coloured with Dark and Light Granny Apple Green plus the colour lifter. It is part of a different stamp & die within the bundle which I cut from the other image and tucked behind this one.

The streamers are another die in the bundle.

The placement of the three cute chicks was based on the scratch marks I added with the die in the set.  It's a really unique die, adding this super cute feature to your creations.

And can we talk about how cute these little bow-ties are?!

This picket fence is yet another die in the bundle. I cut it out twice and used it as a way to cover where the two pieces of DSP met. I was so pleased at how this brought all the elements together. Of course we needed a greeting and I added this by just simple stamping it with Memento Ink in the top corner.  This card will be mailed off to my Sister In Law soon, I hope she likes it as much as I do!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog. Be sure to 'hop' to as many of the others as you can!

You will be so inspired by all the amazing designs!
