You guessed it, time for another monthly team blog hop! This time I am double dipping by creating a design that matches the blog hop theme but also uses this week's sketch challenge from TGIF Challenges.
I chose to showcase the Year to Celebrate stamp set (pg. 62) for two reasons: one, because I love it and two, because I am thinking most of the other participants will be showcasing Autumn or Christmas.
I've been playing quite a bit with this set and have had some hits, but also some misses so the idea of using this sketch seemed like a good way to up my chances of success.
I've seen some great designs based on it and wanted to give it a try!
I created my circle using the NEW stand alone Deckled Circles Dies (pg. 63). I die cut, use successive sizes, in both Basic White and Vellum. I then stamped images from the stamp set, alternating directions on the Basic White. My colour palette was the background DSP from the NEW Merry Bold & Bright DSP (pg. 9). Once I was done stamping, I embossed with the Stripes & Splatters 3D Folder and then cut the circle into roughly 5 equal strips.
I love this big, fun birthday greeting the set has. I choose to stamp in Blueberry Bushel on Pool Party cardstock. This great square die I used is from the NEW Christmas Classics Die (pg. 31).
I also added some background tone on tone stamping with a fun little accent stamp that is in the set.
I could have used any one of the colours in the DSP for my card base so I went with Granny Apple Green and I love how it's so bright and cheery. I feel like this card when make any birthday recipient smile ear to ear! To finish it off, I added a bit of the Simply Elegant Trim in silver and also an assortment of embellishments from both the Tinsel Gem Three-Pack and Four-Pack.
I can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with. Be sure to hop around and check them all out!
Drop a comment, I'd love to know what you think.
