HSS Colour Challenge meets Life Is Beautiful Stamp Set

When I saw my mentor Ange McKay's sample card for this colour challenge, I knew I wanted to participate.  This card design actually came together really easily for me (for a change!). I used my drive home from work to mull over which stamp set to use and then my idea just grew from there.

In order to use the brayer background technique, I would have to emboss all of my main stamping so that the navy ink would not stick to the images.  I chose Early Espresso for the tree and then our challenge colours of Bumblebee and Blackberry Bliss for the leaves.  By using clear embossing powder, you can actually stamp with any colour you want (you do not have to use Versamark Ink).

I spent some time studying the trees around my home and noticed that they were red on the top and still yellow or green further down. I used this same idea for my leaves.  I stamped the leaf image multiple times in each colour, layering it and changing the direction of the image.  Each time I stamped, I would heat emboss before stamping the next image.

To create the navy sky, I used Night of Navy ink and my brayer.  I created an ombre type sky keeping it dark up top and growing increasingly lighter towards the bottom.

I then layered the main layer on top of a piece of Night of Navy cardstock which I placed on a Blackberry Bliss card base.  I really love the richness of these colours together.  Not to leave Bumblebee behind, I stamped my greeting (from the Butterfly Gala stamp set) in Bumblebee and layered it on a coordinating piece of cardstock.  I used the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch for these layers.
