World Cardmaking Day - Crafty Blog Hop (October 2020)

It's World Cardmaking Day!! Did you even know that was a thing?  Yup, it is!  Not really a surprise as there seems to be a day for everything you could imagine.  This is a great day though as it celebrates the very old fashioned, and amazing act, of creating a handmade card and then giving it away.  And even better, let's blog hop and see what others around the globe are creating as well!

I had this beautiful watercoloured background lying around so I decided to frame it with some DSP as if it was outside a window.  This background was made using markers on a block and water (you'll find all the details in a previous blog post). It reminds me of a wintery sky, what about you?

To frame it out, I used a piece of Snowflake Splendor DSP the same size (4"x5.25") and then cut out the middle with a Stitched Rectangle Die.

To really create the feel of the window, I added some die cut snowflakes that were already on my desk up into the 'sky'.  I then added a bystander, the adorable snowman.  I coloured the snowman with Stampin' Write Markers in the same colours as the snowflakes (Highland Heather and Balmy Blue) and added a touch of sheer Pool Party ribbon behind to fancy it up and add a bit of whimsy.

Of course, a few rhinestones and snowflake sequins were also in order!

I framed this layer out again, using Whisper White cut to 5 3/8 x 4 1/8, and then added everything to a Misty Moonlight card front.  I felt like a greeting on the front would have been too much so instead I stamped it inside.

Here's a neat trick when you are framing but don't want to 'waste' such a large piece of cardstock - cut out the middle to use for a future project.  Again, I used a Stitched Rectangle Die to achieve this.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog. Be sure to 'hop' to as many of the others as you can!

You will be so inspired by all the amazing designs!
